EGR...again...but with a twist

Have searched loads but not found what i need unfort, hence these q’s.

My 07 EML is on, apparently as my EGR valve(s) has stuck open.

Ive bought the ‘slot in’ blanking plates from Tafmet, as suggested on here but:

Q1) can someone share instructions on how to put these in please.

Q2). What else do i need to do? Intake butterfly removal? And if so, how? Remap/patch? I know a guy for this if so.

TIA

Hi Mate,

Pretty easy to do, take the engine cover off (remember to put oil cap back on to stop crap dropping in) you’ll see to steel pipes one each side with wrapped in metal mesh, follow them each side and the terminate on your egrs. Pipes are attached with 2 bolt head screws. Loosen them off enough so you can slide your blank in, then tighten.

You’ll also need to remover the butterfly valve on the air intake, bell auto have a good PDF how to at the link below. They remove the pipes completely but you just need to blank the bottom, leave the pipes in place for the mot.

Be prepared for scuffed knuckles as it’s pretty tight, you can do it without dismantling the battery compartments if you can fit your hands.

Did mine a couple of weeks ago, took about an hour as the butterfly was a pig to get out on mine.

Hope that helps

Doen. Took about an hour. All is good. Now apparently i need a ‘patch’ and the MIL light turnning off. I have a buddy who can prob turn the light off but seems itll come back soon if i dont do the patch as well.

So, next q: who in essex to use for the patch? Will / should i get a stage 1 / 2 aswell?

Nearest to you is Gratech in Heybridge, but they are quite expensive and didn't do the best job on my brake pipes but otherwise ok, alternatively there's Broadfield's Garage out near Dunmow, very knowledgeable and very helpful, beyond that there are a couple of others but it depends how far you want to (or can currently) travel.

There's also Essex 4x4 in Wickford but I've no experience of them... others may have..
