12v socket/USB socket

Could someone please tell me is the 12v socket that’s in the rear of the centre console in a D4 permanently live. I changed it a while back for a usb type socket and just lately as car has been sitting about for long periods I have been having low battery power. I have noticed that the usb socket I fitted has a bright blue light that’s permanently on. I disconnected it couple of days back and don’t seem to battery drain now. I don’t remember the original power socket that was there being permanently live.

I think you have answered your own question, if the blue light is on then it is live.

Mine is permanently live but I did a mod to bring all the ignition switched sockets to permanently live, can't remember if that one was ignition switched before or not.

Thanks for reply.

Yep I did think myself I had answered it lol. But I am sure when I just had the power socket and a cable with lighter type adapter on it was stuck in it that I had to at least turn ignition on for it to work. I know when I had it fitted in my d3 it never lit up. Oh well.

why not put a small switch in the trim next to it? then you have the best of both worlds formerly Disco3Ben
