A number of people supply and fit a standard "upgraded" towbar which not only sits much higher but is also far stronger that the standard, removable tow hitch. Obviously not that easy to remove and fit as per the original, but then this also provides a nice "crumble zone" at the rear.
Frontrunner (Kyalami) and BRS (Selby, JHB) supply and fit. frontrunner.co.za , brsoffroad.co.za
You can do fitment yourself - sometimes you need to grind the inside of the recovery loop slightly for the bush to fit.

Sorry - did not notice that you are located in Knysna (lucky fish !!)
Still quite sure that both outfits will ship unit down or will have someone in the area.

Fitted the FR tow bar, see gallery. I have to remove it again to have the lower section of the back plate cut shorter to give me better ground & departure angle clearance. I have no need for the bottom setting. Will have it powder coated after cutting. Next thing is to cut the plastic cover, may be a bit tricky. Ren Colyn

Great stuff
The plastic cover was cut for me by BRS who fiited it - so I can't comment - all I know I would've stuffed it up if I had had to do it myself.

My rear PDC sounds all the time, picking up the tow bar. I saw a thread somewhere on the forum, not sure which one, that shows pics of cutting new locating slots to rotate the sensor to fix the problem. Anyone know where this is or has further info for me? Ren Colyn

Lucky me, I have the BRS towbar and my PDC works with the ball attached. I fitted a 'blackball'.....no comments please, and it doesn't seem to affect the PDC. Strange but true....so I removed the blackball and refitted he silever one to see what happens...now the silverball does not affect the PDC. No explanation for this but my PDC works witha black or silver ball!

Hey Guys.... black ball... silver ball..... mine is fine wiith No ball! must be a balls*p. My next trick is to first try & mask half the sensor on either side of the tow bar. If that does not work then rotate the sensor.
