Advise on selling the D4
Afternoon all,
So we have decided to sell the D4. Wife has found it uncomfortable in the passenger seat. Tried all different cushions, supports etc. Got to the point she doesn’t want to go to far in it now.
Don’t know whether it’s just me justifying, but after not driving it much for most of 2020, I am struggling to find it comfy, now I’m commuting 49 miles per day.
Still need towing capability and 7 seats. Looks like I am heading for a Q7.
So the advise.
Obviously it is known in here, but do I mention the engine rebuild after crankshaft when advertising? Not sure if that is a pro or con. In one way a pro, as won’t have those issues again, con as not the original engine. What’s peoples thoughts?
Also wondering on price. It’s 59 plate, Buckingham blue, with the beige colour trim inside. 125k on the clock. I would have said good condition, with a few age related marks. All works completed by Joe at Oval. Out of warranty on the engine now. Trade prices to buy are around £10.7k. Don’t expect to get that, but hoping for around the £9-9.5k. Am I being optimistic?
Advise and suggestions greatly appreciated. When the time comes, I will pay for and advertise on here.
Thanks.MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Have a look at the new Ssangyong Reston coming out. I have a 19 plate’ ride isn’t great. But the new one is on 18 inch wheels and they have improved the suspension. Does what you need and has 7 year warranty and 7 seats. Tows our horses as if they were not on the backJames favourite hobby is writing in the third person.

as a guide I just partex my D4 (2011 8 Speed XS 113k ) and got 9.5k, dealer now has it up for 12.5k.
It was a family run garage and the I dealt with the son, who had had a bo110cking off his Dad for paying top money for it.
LR had previously offered me 7.2k in partex !!
I would have said that 9k was good book for mine so maybe he did pay top dollar.
9-9.5k for yours on a private sale sounds good, especially if you sell to someone on here who understands the engine rebuild implications2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Hi,
Regarding the advert I don't think I would mention the crank specifically, just that it has had all maintenance when needed
If someone does ask specifically what has been done or mentions the crank potential issues then tell them what has been done and by who
If their in the know they should ask but if you mention it first in your add your inviting questions they did not know about
He honest and open for any info the buyer wants, they may want to know loads of stuff not in your ad

Was this a rebuild of the original engine or a complete new unit?

Sometiems I think the simple ads are the best
For sale Discovery 4 2009 hse/125k/blue/7 seater/fsh, with a sensible price, ie cheaper than all the others, basically short and sweet.
When people cannot sell somehting (the item does not matter the reason is universal) there is normally one reason and one reason alone, it is to bloody expensive.
The adverts that mention every toy and feature are dull beyond belief, most people want price/miles and er thats it!
Ps I hate selling anything!

I suspect what is meant is that if the new engine number is not on the V5 it may show up as a "funny" when someone looks at the car. Conversely when doing a history check an engine number change would probably show up on it and would require explanation. Thats apart from the fact that if you haven't updated the engine number on the v5 thats a bit naughty as you need to provide receipts etc to prove it05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system
