Hi,
Has anybody had to replace the transmission fluid in the ZF 8-speed auto gearbox?
Ive been told I need ZF8HP70 fluid which is £50 per litre & I need 10litres!, so just wanted to check if anybody new of any other options or if I'm gonna have to bite the bullet & pay the £50 per litre.
Thanks

Cheers, I'll bear that in mind...
TBH The gearbox oil cooler failed, so I'm hoping it will only be a top up, but the garage have quoted for filling it up! So just wanted to see what other options there were to that oil...

My last complete transmission flush cost about £300, including all fluid, labour & VAT. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!

Don't know where you're buying the fluid (stealer) but a 10 second search on Fleabay shows plenty at about 20 quid per litre. PAGODA

Great, thanks for that.
Ive never heard of Mannol. I can see they are a German oil company, read some reviews & they seem ok.
Also I can see a British company called Smith & Allan do 5L for £35, has anyone heard of them or used their product?
Cheers

My SCV6 is at almost 40K miles/4 years and I'm going to change mine using Robbie's method. 8L here is about $150 for LF ZF8. IMHO paying for the proper stuff every 5 years or so isn't too bad and not worth the saving in my book. PAGODA
