The ad for the sellers states ‘original JLR device’. Is it really?
Why would JLR makes such a thing, and why would they allow non JLR outlets to sell it?Gary

Ghost aftermarket immobiliser, or aftermarket car alarm, obd lock or fake obd socket…
These devices are not official JLR products but made by dubious businesses purely intent on profit alone!

Although this article is old it is still relevant as the new devices are still being sold by the same locksmith allegedly to all and sundry. …Edilock UK is based in Greenford!

Thanks.
That device is apparently edilock’s own creation and “if you use them for any illegal purpose this is your own responsibility”
Surely there must be some action a group could effectively take against the unregulated selling of a device clearly aimed at criminals?Gary

My understanding is that LR changed the way the keys work on later cars to prevent OBD theft. You can’t programme a key to the car, the key module has to be replaced to accept any new keys.
(this is why I was quoted £900 for a third key from LR)
This means I'm OK
Please.

The new type of smart key was introduced on the D5 from MY18/19. All D4s and early D5s have the old type of key.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Hi Jon
I've looked at the footage. Rat boy opens the door and heads straight for the OBD port. I'm thinking that doing something/anything with your port would stop them. They are not going to fart around in the dark at all.

They've still smashed your window by the time they've found out though. Something visible like a stop lock / disklock or a rabid hungry Rottweiler would be better.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Just back indoors. OBD port taped up out of the way until I can fit a dummy.
I note your comment about my window though

Bandit glass film.... will slow them down although the 'other' types of thief open the door with their signal bouncers don't they/
DiskLok will slow them as will Ghost, Ghost will probably save the vehicle...
Disturbing development...Jim

Unfortunately they are pinging the door lock cover and using an equally easy to acquire special door lock pick to open… this will set off the alarm but by placing the tool in the obd silences the alarm …
