Radio wiring D3
Hi. I’ve never had any success playing audio via the aux socket (rear of centre console) Took a look at the radio end of things today and found some muppet has grafted all sorts onto the existing loom (including an additional jack plug!) 🤦♂️
Can someone please reply with a photo of what things looked originally so I can restore at least the standard functionality. Thanks in advance 👍

On the small conenctor is a blue wire, and shield wire and a red wire.
These are the aux inputs.
THere are 2 red wires, so you need to pic the correct one
The blue bullets are probably for a phone

just a thought have you tried change the aux unit in the centre console? I was having problems and replaced the whole unit and just like that it was fixed ( brought a second hand unit from ebay for like £15)
but looking at those pictures it is probebly that wiring at fault but just food for thought Discovery 3 - Black SE with HSE upgrade

Hi Scubble. So with Pete’s help I was able to pare back the unwanted cables and have what looks like might be the original connections. Yay, but no. Getting nothing through the aux (have tried turning up the output on the MP3 player and volume on the head unit) There’s nowt but hiss so next check was the aux socket or cabling which ties in appealingly with your suggestion. 👍D3 2006 2.7GS auto

On the factory connector, there are 4 wires that are needed:
IF you want to make your own wire, you need to connect the Ground and Shield together, then connect them to the Ground on whatever connector/wire/cable you're using.
Not connecting the Shield will block the Aux from working correctly.
You can see my install of it here: https://youtu.be/JSr8npp4kkg?t=2645
Starts at approx 44:16
Link will take you to exactly where I start doing the audio wires.Pre-Production

I think those maybe preproduction wiring colours. But the pin numbers are useful.

Yup, I think you are right Pete.
The guide just has letters for the color codes (R, U, B) and I have no idea what the U is meant to stand for.
So Pin Numbers is the way to go.Pre-Production
