Stop/Start & MoT test

For some time the stop/start has failed to work with the eco warning light on - due to the Stop/Start battery needing to be replaced.

I am very content with this, and don't intend to replace the stop/start battery unless I have to.

Is the eco warning light part of the MoT? I assume not as there are many reasons why it may be on, including the condition of the main battery.

I have read that some have disabled stop/start by editing the CCF, and would be pleased to do this, if I knew how.

This suggests the light for stop-start is not tested

I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

The stop/start & ECO warning will not fail the MOT test
Only if the engine malfunction (MIL) warning light, airbag, ABS or ESP lights are illuminated they will fail, and these can depend on year of manufacture.

NoDo$h & N5Fav Thumbs Up

Many thanks - I can forget about this then, and enjoy the lack of an operative S/S system.

Just to share my experience regarding this comment:

When my main battery state was causing my stop/start to not kick in, there was not eco warning light. That light only occurred on mine when the small battery needed replacing.

Unless they drive your car during the test as part of the brake check, they're unlikely to notice.

I would be interested in knowing whether it was possible to edit out the "function" of the stop start. After it kept cutting out between Drive and Reverse, pulling one of the terminals on the little battery was done but the bloody light on the dash is so bright!

Having it disabled but without the warning light would be excellent! Twisted Evil

If, as appears to be the case the stop/start & ECO warning will not fail the MOT test surely it shouldn't result in an advisory?

Editing the CCF to kill stop/start & extinguish the warning light would be brilliant.

Mine has passed the last 3 years with the light on. They mention it, but doesn't appear as an advisory.

I can't understand why anyone would want to disable it, I think it's great, reach your destination take seat belt off, engine stops, gears go into park, park brake comes on all automatically, magic Very Happy

Agree, but it seems anything can be listed, tyres at 4mm Advised as low! really!
so a warning light can be highlighted as an advisory,

I had our Merc estate MOT'd a couple of years ago at sh*t fit and it had an advisory for "Brake fluid low" I challenged this when picked up as the level was Exactly on the full line, so should have Not been an advisory Evil or Very Mad tester said he could not clearly see the level so listed as advisory just in case Exclamation disputed as surely they must confirm before advising and if you "wobbled" the reservoir you could see the level easily at Full, reply was "he could not interfere with unit" if I wanted to take it further I would have to leave the car on site until an inspector could attend to check and follow the Ministry complaints procedure, to get a Clean MOT, although Censored off decided life is to short and drove off.

Can you tell I still dont think I am over it yet Rolling with laughter

Oh and for the record I am a fan of S/S as well.
