Replacement windscreen- LR / Autoglass / National Windscreen
My '19 D5 needs a new windscreen due to a large crack. I would value any advice about having another fitted. My LR dealer told me that they'd charge c £1,000-1,100 inv VAT to fit an OEM one. If I didn't fit an OEM one, they said I would be invalidating my warranty.
I'm with NFU so they recommend Autoglass or National Windscreen. Any experience with these firms?
Thanks
Jeremy

I used Autoglass for my last D4. Only gripe was that I hod to take it to one of their centres (25 miles away..) as it was 'too big' for a mobile fitter. Some have similar experiences, others don't.
Screen was a heated one and the fit was good and I had no issues with it myself.
I was out of warranty by then though..
Can't be much to fail completely on a screen though? What warranty issues would one have? Someone will be along in a minute with a tale of woe probably...Jim

As your D5 is so new then your windscreen insurance fitting company should fit OEM as standard or you should be able to request an OEM one be fitted.
As cars get older then fitting an original is less likely but I think within 5 years old you can request OEM.
My D4 needed a new one last year, I requested OEM but as it was 8 years old they said it would cost me £700 for one, or they would fit aftermarket at their cost.
They fitted a Fuyeo(?) one, which LR do fit now to DS etc, and all was good until just before I was due to sell the car and the passenger side heated screen failed. The screen was less than a year old.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

If National Windscreens will fit a genuine / OEM (Pilkington) screen then go with them. Autoglass will fight tooth and nail to fit one of their cheap copies. They say "it's as good as the original screen", I say "so why do the manufacturers fit expensive Pilkington ones then?", to which they answer ".....um....".
I had to have a new screen fitted during lockdown 1 and my insurer uses Autoglass. They fitted one of their cheap screens. It's heated and it works but the heating elements don't seem to cover the same width of the screen as I remember the original fit one did.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

My D5 got hit by a stone while it was being delivered to me. The delivery company arranged for Autoglass to fit a new genuine screen. Apart from having to wait a few weeks for them to get one there was no problem.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Literally had a new screen on my D4 last week. I'm with AA insurance and they use Autowindscreens.
I did an online chat with them and asked for a genuine windscreen. They emailed AA and I also called AA and asked. They agreed.
Anyway, to the point....
The chap fitting my new screen said he'd got a '19 plate Range Rover to do next and they have to use genuine JLR winscreens due to something needing calibrating? Rain sensor or something maybe?
I'm guessing your D5 will be the same, so just give them a call and ask.
I used the "It's got a genuine screenfitted, so why should I have to suffer an aftermarket part just to save your company some money" and it worked.

Be aware, they may try fit a FUYAO which is clearly not Pilkington but this is what the D5s have.MY2023 Discovery 5 R-Dynamic 3.0

push your insurance company to cover cost of lr screen..via lr.......they will wriggle ...the car is so new and still under warranty...doubt autoglass spec screen meets lr spec...may cost you a bit in excess money but well worth it....KEEP ALL YOUR COMPLIANTS IF YOU GET PROBS with landrover....

When I was with NFU , the choice was mine who I used although Autoglass was their chosen supplier. I chose the LR dealer . NFU paid with no issues.

I cant remember who we have to fit the screens but the last 3 d5s have needed new screens within 2 months from stones and each time we have a genuine screen...on the last the fancy opticool upgraded version.
They told me when i spoke we need to have the genuine screen given the HUD and all the camera its not worth fitting the pattern part it often causes issuesMike
