Hey All,
I've been after a D4 for a while but now is the time for me to buy with an expanding family. I've seen a nice 15 plate Lux with 52k on the clock with a full LR history - looks in excellent condition. Only issue for me is that it has 3 owners. I would intend to take out a warranty (Motoreasy gave me a quote) to cover any crankshaft issues. I'm coming from an S Class so used to luxo barge running costs, so really only worried about engine failure. I am going to view it next week, is there anything I should look out for (apart from dripping oil etc)? Would the amount of owners put you off?
Thanks

If it has a full service history, and looks like it's been cared for, I wouldn't worry about the number of owners.
Check all the buttons do what they are meant to do. Oh, and check the passenger carpets for damp as its got a sunroof Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

It's a 6 year old car so even discounting it being an ex-demo, that's still two years per owner, I wouldn't worry too much not everyone keeps a car for life these days, the history is far more important... nice choice by the way I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks both, hope its as good in the flesh as the video. I've been drooling over these tempermental things for a while. The s class had some major issues but I loved it.

in these days of PCP that number of owners is quite common now
registered to the dealer first 15 plate would be none ad blue so probably had to be registered before 2016 - PCP to the first owner who hands it back. PCP to the second who hands it back ....... 05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system
12 RRS SDV6 HSE (Hers) - Gone and replaced with an I Pace - I can tell you now EV is not the future yet

I had a D4 HSE Lux (MY 16) on lease for 5 years. Went back last autumn and whoever bought it will have got a great car. It had 91K on the clock but I drove it motorway miles and it had the services it needed. The EU6 engine benefits have been done to death on here but keep a spare earth strap handy and I have no doubt your 51k example will go on and on...

Dont be put off by the previous owners - see if you can learn more about them.
Can I ask how much Motoreasy's policy cost? I'm interested as it covers the bearing shell/crankshaft drama.

It would also be interesting to know what Warranty Direct are quoting, now that they are again taking new business.

When we bought our 2016 Landmark in 2018, I was a little concerned that the car had already had two owners so did a bit more digging. The first one was for nine-months and was seemingly a company that deals with LR management vehicles, and the second was a private owner who traded it in after a year for a brand new D5. Nearly three years later............ still love it!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was quoted £766 for 1 year or £1424 for 2 years on the warranty. They also offered 67 a month instead with cancellation anytime. I will try WD and see what they offer if they are taking new business.

Land Rovers don't drip oil .......... they merely mark their territory.

Well saw the car today. Maybe I was expecting a bit more, but the interior was a bit more "worn" that I'd like. The drivers seat bolster was cracked with some dark spots. The climate dials trim were faded in places. The rear seats were a bit discoloured (Ivory trim) at the side, visible only when one seat was pulled up to access the most rear. The outside showed a few stone chips which were covered over and the side steps trim was discoloured.
Bloody loved it though. Agreed to buy it with a 6 month warranty and fresh MOT, pending test drive on or after the 12th. It did have a low battery warning but i assume its because its been sitting. Will hopefully collect early next week.

Great news! Well done you.
Probably going to need/worth changing the main battery, even at that youthful age.
WD now trading as myautomotionwarranty.co.uk
As others have said, I'd be interested to know what they quote you...
Enjoy

Hope you like it and it looks after you...
My battery comes tomorrow and I think I’ve found the cheapest one out there.... pop ‘EK950 Exide’ into Amazon... 125 pounds... it comes from Tayna via Amazon and is cheaper than going direct.
That’s the same battery as original but newer spec and not badged as JLR. A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.
