Park sensor issue - bit confused

Hi all...

So, when I jump in the car and just turn the ignition on, I get a beeping from the rear and the orange light flashes on the parking sensor button.

I get this when the car is in park and sensors at the front and rear don't work.

I'm guessing as the beep is from the rear its a problem with the rear sensors. I've turned the ignition to on without the engine running, put it in reverse and taken the handbrake off but there is no sound from any of the sensors.

Currently got the bumper off... all seems OK with the loom...

Any thoughts on what the problem may be? Could it be the actual module that's at fault?

Thanks folks πŸ‘πŸ»

Chris.

THat's rather unusual

Maybe read the fault codes !

Maybe one of the sensors has shorted out.

You could unplug the bumper loom from the car.
Measure resistance between black and brown.

Unpiug each sensor in turn, and see if the resistance changes significantly when a specific one is removed.
If its does, its probably faulty.

Thanks Pete πŸ‘πŸ»

Yeah think I need to get the codes read....

I've had the loom off and my meter out tonight and 3 of the sensors show the same ohms but one doesn't so I've swapped that one with a spare I had.

Hooked it back up and I'm still getting the same beep and flashing orange light when the car is in park....

So frustrating but I'm sure I will get there!

Since you were in Park, in theory the sensors should be off at this position.
Because you hear the long beep, could it be that when the car runs its self test it detects that the parking aid module is defective and it warns you?

I had similar issue when one of my front sensor was in short-circuit shutting down the whole module and beeping the rear (because the module was offline)

So got the codes read during the week and showed errors for front and rear sensors. Think he said all said grounded to earth but I may be wrong haha.

Turns out it was the actual module that had gone down. Managed to swap it out for a working one and all good now I'm glad to say πŸ™‚πŸ‘πŸ»

Parking module?

Hi, did you have any other faults when your parking module went?

I only ask because I now have the dreaded Park brake fault, HDC fault, doors locking and unlocking etc. After reading here and somebody using a "Mac Tools" diagnostic tool and read the codes it seemed there was a fault with the rear sensors. That got unplugged but no change, the D3 wouldn't even start.

So from there we unplugged and changed the brake light switch hoping that was the cause after much reading on here, but it didn't fix the fault.

I was just interested to know if you had anything like that, as before mine packed up I would get odd beeps from the parking sensors when selecting reverse but nothing there, and just coming on randomly.

Thanks.

Hi,
My sensors don't work at all, and they brand new ones.
Back story, I was reversing and I went to a iron that is sticking from the ground and it made a hole on the back bumper, so the bumper as of the Disco for a while, wend i put it back in everything as working fine but the buzzing noise as a bit different, after a while they stopped working completely, and wend you check the them only one as clicking, order new ones set of 4, change them and they simply don't work, traded to put the hold ones and even the one it as clicking it stopped, any advice?

Miguel ,

what is the error code you are having? Perhaps you need to clear the fault first to see what is the problem. Sometimes, clearing the error codes solves the issue.

Abraço e boa sorte

It is strange that no error code is being thrown by the PDC module.

Which diagnostic tool are you using to read the codes?

Anyway, if there is no sound. replace the speaker (you can measure it first as Pete suggested).
