Disco 3 2009 Model and EGR Valves
As my previous post I have now had a total of 3 new EGR Valves in my 2009 Diesel Disco 3. I know this later model cannot have the EGR Valve blanking plates fitted but I was wondering if anything can be done. Or is it perhaps that I dont use this car enough. Any one got any solutions to this issue of these valves keep failing

I thought you could blank the EGR valves on a 2009 as long as you remove the EGR program from the ECU using a patch.

Are you sure that has been done. I thought it was not possible on this model. Also What happens in the UK if you do this regarding the MOT

Had my ears blanked last year, late model 2008. As above, just need the egrs removed via Iid and the blanks fitted2008 HSE Stornoway Grey
My Wife thinks the D3 is a hobby, The D3 thinks the wife is 💕

I would say find the reason why they are failing first? Duff parts possibly? Its odd that's happening although you haven't stated time scales?
I replaced mine myself with some aftermarket parts from a specialist online £89 for the pair 2 years ago, drivers side inlet valve head had snapped off and passenger side was ok but did both as they had similar markings, not a fan of the blanking route but others will say otherwise.
The D3 runs fine and all good.

The time period is about 2.5 years but (and this will surprise you) milage in these 2.5 years is only about 5500 miles at the very most. Which could be the issue. I have several cars and because the D3 gave me so many warning lights (call it the Christmas tree) I have not been using it much. Either way I so which I could like this car and feel confident using it.

Perhaps when lockdown ends pop over I'm in Colchester and have a Britpart Diagnostic Kit and I can share some of my knowledge and actions?

They can be blanked leaving pipework in place, remove the butterfly and then you need to have a software patch applied to tell the car that ear errors aren't important
Most importantly this removes the huge amount of sludge pumped back in to the engine on ticker and over run and also removes the possibility of an under bonnet fire when one sticks open (As I have had on my 2009 HSE D3)Must stop buying shiny toys....

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation.
In internal combustion engines, exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is a nitrogen oxide (NO
x) emissions reduction technique used in petrol/gasoline and diesel engines. EGR works by recirculating a portion of an engine's exhaust gas back to the engine cylinders. This dilutes the O2 in the incoming air stream and provides gases inert to combustion to act as absorbents of combustion heat to reduce peak in-cylinder temperatures. NO
x is produced in high temperature mixtures of atmospheric nitrogen and oxygen that occur in the combustion cylinder, and this usually occurs at cylinder peak pressure.

Wow Darrin , was it catastrophic mate,mines in tomorrow for 2 new genuine EGRs as they have finally given up about 2 years after you where very kind helping out with the initial EGR fault code showing
