Not seen this discussed anywhere, but having fallen foul of it myself thought I'd note it in case anyone else has similar issue.
It is in the manual, but no-one reads that, do they? The Book of Last Resort. As it was for me.
Tried to set a post code as my destination on Sunday, and I couldn't. All I could see available as letters to press was A, and when I pressed that AD came up as selected.
Thinking the system hadn't initialised correctly, used my phone instead, but tried again on my return trip after being parked up for some hours, and system was the same.
Mentioned it to wifey yesterday, thinking that maybe I'd need to rerun the three hour long update routine to reset everything, because it was obvious that something had gone corrupt, and she said that when we went to France a couple of weeks ago it popped up a message saying that it knew we were in France, which I wasn't aware of, but no such message came up when we came back to the UK. Obviously she had pressed something but no idea what.
Sat in the car this morning, looking at all screens and no joy.
So opened the Book.
Within moments the Truth was exposed to me - Destination Entry, More, Search Area.
Scroll to select GBR, and all is well again.
Why I never saw the blindingly obvious (once you know) Search Area button before, no idea.
Hopefully this will help someone else that falls for this.
Cheers

Really must proof read before posting.
Should point out that I did know that we were in France, but didn't know about the pop-up!

Yep - something like this threw me. What I thought was a meltdown/fault needing to be sorted by a dealer was really just the satnav being in on offroad mode.....

Something similar happens to me as well. Every few weeks it thinks it’s in Belgium and I have to reset it to GBR….I’ve never even been to Belgium!!

Belgium is default and if it regularly defaults that country, it’s a sign your Roof antenna is on its way out. Check for water, good news it’s cheap to replace with an after market part. 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

Useful to know M3bobby as it’s happened again since my last post. Thanks for the info and I’ll take a look and check for water damage.
