How to (not to) launch/recover your boat from a beach..

Brought over from FB...

Scarborough North this weekend...

As a RIB owner myself I am left wondering whether this is naivety bordering upon stupidity or do i just need to grow a bigger pair myself and stop seeking out slipways..

Seems nuts to me to go onto wet sand.

Apparently the same vehicle in Filey a few weeks ago...

Shocked

He's an eejit

I launch and recover into a sea loch and never even get the tyres wet, not worth it as I plan to keep the D3 as long as possible, dont want it turning to dust

A sure way to flag corrosion on future MOT's. I am assuming this dip in the ocean is not a one off, and that owner does not bother with thorough washing or frequent oil change on the diffs.

It never ceases to amaze me how people who make such dumb decisions manage to get on in life.

If that's to be taken as an example of his decision making skills on land, I definitely would not want to be in a boat with him when his skippering skills are called upon.

The mind boggles Rolling Eyes

Personally I will not readily immerse our vehicles chassis deep in sea water. I try to avoid it. If it goes into salt water a good fresh water wash as soon as possible.

Recovering from sea I would prefer to use a long strap or a winch cable and keep my vehicle on solidground/beach/sand/slipway where I will have decent traction.

OMG, what the Censored are they doing, as also mentioned wouldn't dream of doing that , what a crying shame to have such nice motors being ruined like that along with putting other possibly at risk if they have to recover them, ie RNLI

Plus 1, also wouldn’t go into wet sand and think ur being sensible by only launching from slipways

Rolling with laughter

Also wonder how it stands regarding the warranty , assume it would be void if it’s found that salt water has got into all the electronics , of course that’s just an assumption
