Hi collective brain!
Has anyone had an issue with a slow responding aircon unit in a MY12 D4?
I’ve had it from new and had all the recommended aircon services along the way.
For the last few months we have had an issue where the aircon wasn’t as cold as it used to be. Also there was a delay in it coming on. Somewhere between 5-15 minutes before it blew out anything but ambient air. When it did start, it worked ok, but not great. So we did the obvious thing and recharged.
That certainly made it cooler and for a few days I thought we had a winner.
Sadly the delayed cooling has started again. The outside temp does not affect whether there is a delay or not. At least, as far as I can tell.
I took it into the dealer and they said it is all working as expected. They coildnt repeat the problem. Which to be fair, can be hard to repeat
Failing compressor? Something else?
Also does anyone know any good aircon guys I can try out in West London (ish)?

Maybe your cooling system has a leak somewhere.

When they recharged it did they go through the process of extracting the old, then leak testing before putting the gas back in? Gary

The problem with the standard a/c recharge machines is they pull a vac as the leak test, and often they can pass this test but still have a leak when working under pressure.
You need someone with nitrogen test gear.

OK, I will try and see if there is anyone on the West side of London that I can get to look at it. Recommendations welcome.
It happened again yesterday. So I turned the ventilation off completely and left it for 5 mins while I drove, as it was pumping out hot air. When I turned it back on, it sprung back into life and started cooling the car.
So when it cools, it works beautifully. It is just that it doesn't always cool, or it can take 5-15 mins to start cooling.
Annoyingly I can't find any pattern. As sometimes it will work every trip, first time for 6-10 trips. Then it won't work for 10 mins for 3-4 trips and then will work perfectly once it does kick in.
Don't you just love problems like that?
