At the start of the first lockdown plaster was selling for £50 a bag instead of the normal £6, my nephews were really struggling to get a supply but things seem a lot better now.
Maybe all the cement is being grabbed by the lot building this tunnel.. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-57093884I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

heard the same rumour...cement being redirected to HS2...political pressure to get it done...why bag it into 25kg bags when you can send it up the road in bulk tankers....jewsons and wickes here have no stock..the ones that do have want £7 a bag...3 bags only

Never mind cement. I can’t get a roofer to come and fix my chimney, and other remedial stuff up there until November!
Getting trades to quote let alone commit to anything short of a full rebuild seems to be very difficult at the moment.

Yes, but if you want an in depth critical review of a journalistic endeavour or some "business management advice", there are thousands of graduates available... Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

It’s not great the material situation at the moment , just got to think ahead and get it when you see it , we’ve been picking up 10 bags every time there some available so got 70 odd bags stored but they won’t last long , insulation is our biggest problem , timber in very short supply also .-------------------------------------------------
if you cant hold on dont let go , it ill come in handy for something even if you never use it.

I had all the wood necessary to replace the roof and extend it on the 'West Wing' of the house.
Now half of it has been taken by my brother-in-law and nephew to do the shop refit for my son's business.
I knew timber prices had gone up so charged £1.25 a metre for the 22mm boards rather than the 97p a paid but not only does that look like it won't cover the replacement now; it doesn't look certain I'll be able to get hold of it.
The timber lorries in the forest out the back of the house are working pretty much night and day so I imagine the local parts of the supply chain (the timber here is processed at BSW Fort William) are doing pretty well!
I'm going to have to think pretty hard about where to use my remaining 3 bags of cement here by the sounds of it as well. Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

It is the same here. My order for trussed rafters went up by 8% in 10 days. I have paid for them and will be storing them for the job in September.
I have a 620 m2 roof in October and have no solution to store that many tiles. Trying to forward buy but they are not that keen (which I can understand). I priced this a few months ago before this all kicked off and material prices have gone silly since then. I'm partially "re-skinning" a garage and had some difficulty in finding 200mm Feather Edge Board in decent lengths at reasonable prices. In the end I got what I wanted, but think prices have risen by 30% in the last year.
I was going to buy oak, but it was gently pointed out that at my age (79 next month) softwood would out live me!
