Boris and his mob will use this as an excuse to try to gut the BBC, I'm sure of that.
The BBC gets things wrong, yes, but it's pretty much the closest thing we have to a neutral news organisation in the UK. The right claim it is left wing, the left claim it is right wing. That tells us that it is somewhere down the middle and we need neutral voices these days of rising nationalism and increasing "them and us".
Diana is being painted by some as a lily white maiden led to the slaughter by Bashir. She could be just as manipulative as any of them. As the Dyson report says, she would probably have done the interview anyway:
Quote:Whatever reservations she may have had about it later,
Princess Diana was pleased with the interview at the time. By early to midAugust 1995 at the latest, she was keen on the idea of a television interview. She
would probably have agreed to be interviewed by any experienced and reputable
reporter in whom she had confidence even without the intervention of Mr Bashir
The BBC messed up by not investigating the initial allegations fully enough. But when Bashir got a signed note from Diana herself saying she'd never seen the forged documents, you can see why the person carrying out the investigation thought the allegations had no substance. That Bashir had manipulated that process too is the fault of Bashir alone really.
I expect to see much baying for blood from certain quarters intent on destroying the BBC. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
2012 RRS SDV6
2008 RRS TDV8
"When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die! You don't know who's children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken. How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they were always going to have to do from the very beginning: SIT DOWN AND TALK!"

There is not one single thing neutral about the BBC at all and hasn't been for years.

Just curious as to which neutral source you judge the BBC against to demonstrate its bias? D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

I don't condone Bashir, but journalists have always lied to get to the story. The Watergate scandal and the MP's expenses expose are both examples of where journalists pushed the boundaries with lies and with the expense story, broke the law. However, if they hadn't, we wouldn't have had the stories, both of which were very much in the publics interest. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)
