[For Sale] VW T4 AutoSleeper Trooper Campervan
Here is Koopa, our Auto-Sleeper Trooper campervan based on a VW T4 Transporter, first registered in October 91. He is a RHD, 2.0l petrol-engined, manual 5 speed gearbox model converted from new by Auto-Sleepers Campervans. Koopa is a great family campervan for long weekends or even longer adventures. This is an early Auto-Sleeper T4 camper in very original condition.
Pop-top roof with solid sides. All the benefits of a high-top but without the drawbacks
4 Berth (rock'n'roll bed and sleeping for two young children in the pop-top roof)
Included are the original upholstered bed-boards that slide across to create the pop-top bed (not shown in photos)
4 belted seats
Captain's chair passenger seat (swivels 180 degrees)
Two (new) laminate tables for dining / cooking / games
New curtains throughout
2 ring gas stove + grill
3-way fridge with freezer compartment
Blown air heating
Sink and tap with 75l fresh water tank
Lovely original worktops and solid wood trim
Integrated mains hook-up

LED rear light cluster upgrade
Things done in my ownership
Full service including oil, filters, coolant change, spark plugs and ignition leads
Brake servo overhaul, new master cylinder and brake fluid change
New split-charge (VSR) system installed for leisure battery
New leisure battery
Refurbished battery tray (accommodates both batteries)
Upgraded clutch pedal mount (preventative - common issue on T4s)
Upgraded vacuum hoses
LED interior light conversion (retaining original fittings)
USB charging points front and rear
Instrument cluster repair completed (common issue on T4s resulting in gauges misreading)
LED full beam indicator fitted (the original bulbs fade)
New blackout-lined curtains throughout
New JustKampers rear bumper centre-section (please note: the photos were taken before this was fitted)
New indicator stalk just fitted
Wooden trim refurbished and oiled
New fire extinguisher fitted
Other stuff
The pop-up roof makes for better access / economy than a high-top van but offers great space inside
The hard-sided construction of the pop-up roof make for better noise and heat insulation - it's very snug compared to canvas
The roof can be set to allow ventilation to keep cool whilst keeping rain out
The van is completely dry and leak-free
The interior offers a HUGE amount of storage with drawers, wardrobe, multi-level larder, etc
The underneath is very solid and the engine is strong, pulls well and starts first time
It returns 25mpg consistently (measured full to full at the pump)
Tyres are all good with plenty of tread
The not so good bits
He is coming up for 30yrs old and shows some signs of his age per below
There is a small dent in the tailgate to the right of the handle (the bumper was also lightly damaged but has now been replaced)
There are a couple of small rust spots around the rear window
Some stone chips on the bonnet and other other small marks in the paintwork commensurate with age
The interior is in all-round very good condition. The upholstery on the front seats though is showing signs of wear - so we added some seat covers
The MoT is due to expire on 1st August but happy to put through another MoT as part of the sale for peace of mind.
You would be hard-pressed to find a more versatile and usable campervan of this vintage. The Auto-Sleepers build quality, layout and attention to detail is excellent.
£9250 ONO. We also have a nearly-new awning available for an additional £250. And a Fiamma tailgate bikerack (3 bikes, can be extended to 4) for £150.
Located 15mins from Jn15 of the M4 just north of Swindon. Donation to forum if sold on here.
