Oil Sump Renewal and Rear Propshaft Renewal |
|
Having purchased my 2015 D4 HSE Nov 2020 decided to have a post lockdown visual inspection on 21 June 2021 carried out by local LR dealership as the vehicle came with an independent 12 month warranty vehicle purchased from Grange Cars Tunbridge Wells Bentley, I'm based in North Wales.
The local dealership sent me a nice video highlighting all the good points along with 4 negative observations. https://video.citnow.com/vtNNfTSbt4V
1) Number Plate Light N/S Bulb Inop £56.33
2) Battery condition / drive belts Test & Re-Charge Battery £104.40
3) Oil leaks Oil Leak From Engine sump gasket £1,417.80
4) Other Centre prop bearing perished and excessive play £670.22
Can you believe these costs, WOW.
I changed the No Plate bulb took me 6 minutes max.
I have not yet done anything about the battery other than search for prices on supply new battery.
I contacted the warranty company and registered a claim first call I was told they will contact the dealership to confirm issues and costs, after a few days and not hearing anything I called the warranty firm again spoke to a different person and explained the situation and was told similar tale I was a little concerned however, the called me back and the dealership needed to upload the info to a network portal, after a couple of days and another call/email to the warranty rep they were still waiting for dealership, I then called the dealership and was told a service manager needed to upload the info and he had been in meetings that day, the next day I received a call from the warranty firm they has received the info from dealership and the claim had been authorised, I was in shock so quick, I was expecting ping pong that's not covered etc. The dealership contacted me asked when could they have the vehicle I told them tomorrow, they eventually agreed so I took it in saying they would most likely have it for 2 days. So hopefully get it back tomorrow.
Sorry for long winded post D4 HSE Lux MY2015

Wow, £56 for a £3 bulb! Replacement Engine sumps are only a couple hundred if that, type of job you could look at yourself? 2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

Exactly my thoughts about the bulb, how about testing and charging the battery, phew
Even though I have access to ramps etc as it's in a warranty no way was I going to be messing about with it. D4 HSE Lux MY2015

Sump is not difficult but you need to remove driveshafts, front diff and starter so takes a bit of time. Change the oil level sensor and harness whilst you are there.
