Advice needed dealing with the warranty company

Does anyone work for a warranty company that can advise me on key words to use to make them honour their agreement.

My 2009 D3 is under a warranty, the HPFP is in need of replacement and of course i should be claiming through the warranty tog to this fixed. Who wouldn't? It's nearly a £1500 repair.

The same company (Handler Protect) has already refused to the cover a claim I logged when my instrument cluster completely failed. This was because they ask certain questions and the company that repaired my cluster answered one the question of why the part failed? With the term "poorly manufactured", as soon they read this they refused to pay out.

I am having the same battle now, they have asked for "detailed reason why the part has failed" and "photos of the failed component"

I doubt even Land Rover or Siemens themselves would answer the reason the pump has failed/failing and as for pictures I have no chance!

I can see where this is going, they are going to refuse my claim due to lack of evidence or lack of information.

Can anybody help with how I describe the failure without it leading to refusal for being my fault?

I would advise you use words like terminal mechanical failure of the pump and avoid words like worn or age related failure as they will say it's just fair wear and tear.

I’d be tempted to challenge the instrument binnacle rejection. (Insurance ombudsman?) If a warranty doesn’t cover failures due to manufacturing defects, and excludes wear and tear, exactly what failures does it cover?

Definitely use the threat of the ombudsman…. For each claim made against them the insurance warranty company have to pay the ombudsman a sum of money for dealing with the claim…(from memory I think it was just short of £500… it also puts them on a rating scale with the ombudsman…)

I do it now on any company that hacks me off… even if they find in the favour of the company they still have to pay the ombudsman which gives me some satisfaction!
