Stop Start Battery

I suspect that my stop start battery needs replacing as the eco light is illuminated. Don't really have much use for stop start as most of my driving is motorway with very little traffic but was wondering if the battery increases ah capacity (like in a Toyota with twin batteries) and would be of benefit in winter or only serves the purpose of running ancillaries during the stop start cycle. Is it worth replacing to reduce drain on the main battery when running the FBH, interior lights etc or is it strictly limited to operation during the stop start cycle?

I don’t think that it does supplement the main battery, which is the same output as the battery on a D4 without start/stop but still has a FBH etc. etc.

I can’t say that is definitely correct though. Thumbs Up

Would a faulty stop start battery drain the main battery?

no - as it would not do the 'stop' part of the stop/start so it wouldn't therefor need the start part either as it hadn't stopped. Laughing

I replaced both and had to rest the BCM (battery control module) in order to get the stop start to work again. The previous owner hadn't replaced either for the first 6 years of its life so they were both overdue.
A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.
