Auxiliary battery / Flood lights
Hi all
Off the back of travelling the country week in week out 12 weeks towing 3.5 tonnes. Car hasn’t missed a beat.
One thing I want to improve for next year is lighting. As it’s hard to breathe around the vehicle when it’s running for up to 2 hours.. so I can use the headlights to work in the dark.
I know the fault causing the smell is a good idea to fix but so far I’ve had no joy. And th egrs been removed I may have these reinstalled.
But I was wondering what you guys recommend for cheap adequate set up. I’m terms of a battery I can use without the car running. Maybe remove the FBH and use the area for a second battery? How long it lasts. Half decent lights and fixtures. Maybe something between battery’s also as to automatically manage the charging?
It would also help as I use the car for winching directly next to a marquee so the fumes are being trapped and it’s not pleasant. As I leave it running to charge the main battery up before switching off.
Ideally like capability of a good hour of lights if this is even possible.
I’m not too clued up on electrics. Very basic skills. But I have fit a winch system and made a wiring setup for a job crane on trailer. All with switches directly to the battery that I turn on only when in use.
I learn best with videos and straight forward steps. Ideally a realistic total price estimate so inkmownif I can even afford it.
Thanks as always. Been a pleasure to drive and a good investment best £1700 car I’ve bought! Hopefully it stays goodDisco 3 SE Manual 2005 V6 2.7

There is a spot for the battery on the driver side, under the plastic cover.
Just need the LR clamp.
Others will be able to advise what system to use to charge the battery.
Loads of threads on here

You can fit a good size battery on the drivers side, you only need a simple Volt sensing relay to charge it and it will run LED lights for a long time without effecting the starting battery as long as you dont go mad with the LED lights.Andrew

I've had an auxiliary battery running my fridge and additional lights for around 12 years
The battery will fit (as stated) in the box on the offside - where the brake reservoir etc are. I made more space by launching the alarm sounder - it uses the horn thereafter.
Get a decent leisure battery (Tanya aren't far from you) and a split charge system - there's plenty out there and off you go.
I leave the fridge running while I'm fishing and have the rear lighting I've fitted on when we are back and getting changed / cooking.
Never had a problem. I've even jump started myself when my main battery was failing.I see no ships........

Sure you haven’t missed a nought off?- I seem to remember paying around £38,000 for one a few years back and I had more teething problems with it than you appear to have I did fit an auxiliary battery to it which was a lifesaver several times when the main battery failed, it’s not IF the main battery fails on a D3 through doors, radio etc being left on its WHEN. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

high peak autos on youtube purchased one for £500 last week! Even the park sensors work! HSE
TC could be an issue. and EPB failed. In the next video he's gonna look under it.
