Finally got one

Well after wanting one for ages, nearly buying one twice before, (then talking myself out of it) I finally took the plunge. I'll be picking it up next Friday, once the Camblets etc have been done.

Lets hope its a good one.

Que the newbie questions, Very Happy When you leave the car overnight is it best to drop the suspension to access mode?

also it had an error message saying battery in key Low, do these self charge like in the D3 or is it the case of replacing battery?

Thanks Very Happy

When you park it up it will drop down overnight, no need to set it in access mode.

AFAIK the key doesn't recharge.

On D4 there is a CR2032 battery inside the fob. Changing is really easy, it was the first thing DIY ever that I did on the vehicle when I got mine. There are instructions to swap it, please use forum search.

From memory it should not do this. This is standard on a D5 but not a D4. If it drops overnight you have a leak/fault

Key needs a battery
Shouldn’t drop overnight, may level slightly - in nine years of ownership, only the front levelled slightly to compensate for my steep driveway. Unless you are vertically challenged, I’d just leave at normal height.

Well, Its been a week now with the Disco, and I have to say I'm loving it! and I'm getting 30mpg, which was more than i was expecting Very Happy

Here come the further questioning...

I've noticed that there is a number panel on the door, is this to program the seats to suit different drivers? is this easy to do?

Also I've noticed in the extras screen I have timed climate, does this just pre heat the car for you, or will it put the demisters etc on for those winter mornings?

Cheers

yep memory seats - read the manual but think its same as radio preset: press and hold to store. Keys can be linked to so if driver #2 unlocks with their keys it should move seat accordingly IIRC

Yes it'll get the Fuel Burning Heater (FBH) on to get the car nice and toasty for you on those cold mornings Thumbs Up

Yes the 3 buttons are for the memory seat. Ignition on, Set your seat to the desired position with the key you use. Press and hold the number 1 key on the door and it will say "memory position 1 stored" on dash. Do the same with the spare key for another position then if you each have a key the seat will set to the desired position when you unlock
If i remember correctly it also sets door mirrors and radio settings

The Timed climate will run the FBH for about 20mins and open vents to preheat the engine and warm interior. It won't get warm but takes the chill off on cold mornings. You can add a remote plip to turn it on from the house too

I have a MY12 and I don't think mine recognises the different keys, I will have to try later.

A word of warning about the seat memory settings.....

I used Memory 3 for the “Waiting for SWMBO” position - I.e. fully reclined so I could have a nap. I would often find that I accidentally touched M3 when getting out, leaving me to get into a sun lounger when I returned to the car.

Either your lie-o-meter on the dash is set too optimistically OR you're not driving it correctly. Laughing
