Forget Formula One….
For those who have not seen a modern WRC car in the forests… this may whet your appetite…and change you away from boring F1…
Rally Wales is hopefully back on in 2022!

Brilliant. It used to all over the telly but sdaly no more . As a kid I loved the RAC Rally. It's what persuaded my dad to get an Audi Quattro in 1984. I took my driving test in it and passed, which was the one and only time I ever drove it Mind you, I could park mum's Fiat 126 anywhere and climb out the roof if it was a bit 'snug'.
I'd love to see F1 drivers vs Rally drivers in a series of races / tests across a range of racing disciplines.New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Now that I'd deffo pay for.
Bring it on Moo!
The off road tests in a D3/4 should be interesting especially if the engines make to the end of the trial. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Videos were great but what they don't convey is the smell of unburnt high octane fuel wafting in your face as the cars come off the throttle
I spent many happy hours sat in the freezing cold in Kielder forest watching the likes of Stig Blomquist, Juha Kankanen, Richard Burns, Colin McCrae and Carlos Sainz snr fly by I always thought that rally drivers were far more skilled than F1 drivers and would love to see them face off in a series of races.
I was also fortunate enough to have been taken out for a drive in the road going version of the RS200 Group B rally car 8) I'd never been scared in a car until that point ! I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Totally agree… or being splattered with stones and mud travelling at 100 mph..
They also go as fast in the pitch dark… which is made spectacular with glowing red hot disc brakes and the exhaust systems….
A couple of years ago we were in the forests in the dark trying to cook sausages in the pouring rain…as fast as I was cooking the pan was filling up with water, so they were more boiled than fried…
The course car actually stopped and congratulated us for our perseverance!
It is part of the whole atmosphere though.. I thoroughly recommend it … plan ahead and only go for doing two stages in the day max… that way you can enjoy the whole atmosphere without fighting the traffic and you can walk far enough into the stage to get away from the riffraff.

Went to the RAC in 1997 with friends. Started at the Silverstone special stage in dense fog - literally only saw the cars for about 50 yards in each direction! Then drove up to Donnington to watch the special stage there. Then drove across in to Wales to see some of the forest stuff. We did as many miles as the competitors!
Remembering sitting (holding on for dear life!) on a steep grass slope above a hairpin in a Welsh forest watching the cars do Sweet Lamb. Got a bit damp etc., but didn't mind one bit.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
