I have posted in the D4 forums but doesn't get as much traffic as here on D3. I have been trying to get my seat memory working for a while now without success (buttons on door handle are dead, tried changing the whole handle fitting, tried swapping out the memory module). Also, think I may have a slow drain on the battery.
Can anyone recommend someone on the forums or a good indie in the South East that could help me with this? I've done a bunch of other jobs on my old D3 and the new to me D4, but electrics, and more specifically diagnosing electrical issues, are over my head.
Any help appreciated as ever.

i know this is going to sound a little condescending but have you checked obvious first like fuses and connectors etc?
especially if there is an ecu controlling it all Patman

Yep, checked all related fuses and all seem fine. Window buttons work fine on that door too (driver's door). I have tried swapping out the small module in the door, the memory module itself under the seat and also the whole inner door handle with the switching block. This is why I think I'm at the point of just getting someone who knows what they are doing with regard to car electrics to take a look.

seems to me to break a break in the power somewhere could you check to see if have 12v on module? Patman

On the D3 the switches are on the seat but there have been a few faults with the door wiring looms were members have had to run a new earth wire. I wonder if it could be something that simple. Andrew

My D3 had a door connector that let water in, and the connector and some of the wiring corroded. Was very obvious when you opened the two halves of the door connector up.

Thanks for the replies all. I have had the door panel off several times, initially to change the lock actuator. But also to try replacing the small module in the door and the whole handle with memory buttons. Don't see any signs of water ingress or corrosion in there.
I have a multimeter but aside from some basic usage I'll admit I don't really know what I am doing with it. I can find out which pin carries the power on the seat memory module plug under the seat but how do I test that with the multimeter?
I did warn you I am clueless on the electrics side of things 
Thanks for the offer Patman, much appreciated anyway. If you (or anyone else) are happy to walk me through a few steps of diagnosis, I can give it a shot.

So you need to set your multimeter to volts dc, then put the black lead onto a good earth and simply make the red lead contact the supply to module. You can disconnect the plug if you like. Patman
