Dont blame you not trusting a second hand one.
I’m usually keen with 2nd hand parts

No worries I've bought stuff from GOS in the past and they have been good to deal with

I have just pulled apart and reassembled a 6hp26 auto box. The common fault seems to be worn bushings, which are readily available and not difficult to fit. How much practice I need to end up with a fully functional gearbox, remains to be seen.
If you need to go further, with new solenoids, clutch plates, valve block testing the parts cost will increase significantly.
I would have confidence in a used unit from GOS, just swap mechatronic unit with the one from your gearbox, or recode replacement using IID service.Chris

Thanks for the advice, as you are only in USK and I'm in portskewett... you can rebuild mine for me 😆.
I'm thinking general consensus is go second hand and risk it.

Well done Gary (again)
A thorough overhaul with guarantee, comes at a price. Justified on newer high value cars, with a defined fault, or for owners of older models hoping for many more years of use.
I am curious to find out how many parts are interchangeable, maybe offering scope for fitting a used clutch basket and similar items.
Also, being familiar with 6HP26 gearboxes would be a big head start trying to resolve problems where they are fitted to BMW, Jaguar and a few other brands.Chris
