Dim Light a crappy brown light
Hi All
The wiring diagrams tells me that my Dim lights on my D4 don’t have fuses but apparently use MOSFET’s in lieu of fuses. Wiring diagram states that they are in the P101 Central Junction Box.
Does anyone have a picture of these little - tried looking but that has to be the worst location for a fuse box..
I have “brown out” possibly due to a volt drop - light is normal on start but a few seconds after starting the car is the dim lights drop to the crappy brown.
Both left and right sides - I have checked the earths and they are ok.
I don’t have an IID tool so can’t see if the previous owner tried to turn on the Daytime Running Lights because the above happens with engine running. Bright photo is dim light on, engine off - dim photo is dim lights on but a second or so after engine running.
PS: it’s not the bulbar wiring as I have totally disconnected all the bulbar wiring to check but problem stays..

As a total amateur in electronics a MOSFET is a switch not a fuse nor can it be used as a fuse, although they do fail and if it is not switching it could be the culprit, I would hazard a guess it’s a resistor or wrong resistor fitted as it’s been modified.
MOSFETS are easy to test with a Multimeter but they have to be removed from the board. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
