Front lower arms

So I had an advisory on Mot last month for slight play in one lower arm rear bush, the arms are 15000 miles old so is it okay to just change the bush or replace the arm?

I’ve always taken the poly option on my other cars so are they good on LR’s?

Hi

Will be interesting what’s said regarding poly bushes , know I also got an advisory but mine was for the rear lowers , but I intend to change the complete arms on both sides

Wonder how prices compare with poly vs complete arms plus how hard it is to get the bushes out ,don’t know if I’ve got it correct but arnt some of the bushings oil filled , will u have to get a bush extractor or already have one plse , just thought regarding cost if u have to buy more tools

Plus of course the alignment cost

Following with interest , sorry can’t be much help as only replaced the rear uppers with complete arms

Fingers crossed all goes well

Dont poly, do some research to see why.

Standard quality arms are just fine, though 15k is pretty low mileage, genuine arms?
Gen arms are good for 40 to 50k normal road use.

Just about every land rover owner gets suckered into either pointless upgrades or fitting heavy duty something or other when std parts are just fine.

Meyle heavy duty arms from supplier on this site would be a good choice. I personally would not go poly unless you like a rough ride.

My local MoT place told me a couple of years ago that they'd had a visit from the MoT admins to make sure Disco bushes were being assessed properly as too many places, not them, were failing perfectly good bushes. They should give when tested but then move back when released, if that makes sense.

I changed all my front ones a couple of years ago due to an advisory and the old bushes looked ok.

When they put it on the Mot shaker plates you can see a lot of movement in standard bushes the Meyle Hd are better but still have a lot of movement under load. So it makes sence that a lot are being failed/advised when theres nothing wrong.

Thanks for all the replies, food for thought. The other reason for looking at the front bushes is I’ve developed a strange judder under light braking at speeds around 40/50 and not all the time, recent new brakes and O/S wheel bearing. Search on here indicated it my be lower bushes?
