Daytime Running Light Wont Turn Off - When Engine Turned Off
Hi Everyone,
We have a strange issue with our 2010 Discovery 4 and would appreciate any suggestions.
The day light running lights on the drivers side front and rear stopped working about 2 weeks ago - normal headlights and break lights were ok.
I noticed fuse 25 had blown. Changed the fuse and all was OK for another 2 weeks until fuse blown for a second time.
Tried changing fuse 25 again and this time it blew straight away and for some reason the running lights on the passenger side, front and rear stayed on permanently even when car turned off.
Fixed the issue with the fuse blowing, which was a burnt out wire but the DRL now won't turn off at all on either side, even with the engine off. Can't find anything else wrong. The only thing I can do at the moment is to remove fuse 24 and fuse 25 when not using the car.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated as it is driving me crazy.
Thank you

Just checking to see if anyone has any suggestions. At the moment I have to pull the green switch on the fuse board to turn every thing off. If I don’t the DRL just stay on permanently.
Many thanks.

I think the lights are negative switched, so permanent live and it’s the application of an earth which turns them on. You said you had a burnt out wire, if either the bulb has gone (there was a thread recent,y about metal blades bulbs causing issues) or you have another burn further on that’s grounding on the chassis that could be causing the issue.2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

Thank you for the reply. I took the car to challenger 4x4 today. They spoke with autologic to try and find the issue and they thought something could have blown on the fuse box. He thought it would need to be replaced and if it did the key transponder and keys would then have to be recoded. Or the unit sent to BBA diagnostics to be fixed.
Would this sound right or do you think it was another wire somewhere?
I'd start by checking all connections are clean and dry tbh.
My aftermarket DRLs have started turning on when they shouldn't after I drove through a massive puddle at speed the other week..

Hi.
Thank you for the tip. Could you let me know at which points I should be checking, I don’t want to miss any. The original wire that had gone was under the carpet on the passenger side.
logically, mine "should" be related to the relay I fitted BUT it doesn't make sense that there is no power to open the relay if the headlamps are on ... I'd start, in my case at least, with the rear of the headlamps. Look if there have been modifications there by a previous owner..

Hi sorry I forgot to say it is the DRL at the front the rear daylights and the number plate lights that are all on permanently. Not sure if that makes a difference ?
Thank you.

Just had a proper look the rear passenger side tail light and notice 4 of the leds have gone out. Does anyone think if I replace the rear light it could solve the issue? Image attached
