Door closed but instrumentpanel says open
Hi
Just registrered because i bought a disco 4 for my wife and she is happy but not me.
Im having some problems with the dashpanel saying that rear passenger door is open even when it is shut, this means i cant lock the car and the interior lighting stays on.
Any idea what the problem could be?

For a guess it’s the left from the rear(UK near side) needs new actuator, common failure.
Try locking it from the inside It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thanks for the tip mate
But how does one lock it from the inside. Sorry to ask such a silly question.

First check the manual mechanical lock works, I assume yours is left hand drive, open drivers window, use the key to lock and unlock the left front door, the keyhole is under the door handle fixed piece and may need a certain amount of force without breaking to operate, once you know you can lock and unlock with the key, put your arm through the open window and press the lock button on the inside rear door. With the window still open press the lock button on the remote if you are lucky the other doors will lock and unlock keep the window open until you have tested it to your satisfaction.
If they don’t lock you will have to lock all the doors internally and use the mechanical emergency key as above until you fit as new actuator, the emergency key only works on one door.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Damn that's one hell of a tip!
First time I've bought a British car and my skepsis is growing lol.
Ordered 1 actuator so hopefully I have it next week.
Thanks alot for the tip!

Today I took on the challenge to replace the actuator on the rear right door.
It actually went well until I realised I ordered the wrong actuator. Supposedly the new one was for older disco.
So I ordered the correct one.
My issue now is that the connector that goes to the actuator doesn't want to click in, it doesn't get fitted in and I even checked so I haven't broken any plastic (which I haven't).
How the hell do you guys push the connector in because I'm using alot of force but can't get it to "click in".
Makle sure you have not bent a pin in the plug, also heck that the locking tab on the plug has not broken.
Flack

I don't think anything is bent but I have been pushing the connectors so hard to each other that the orange rubber thing on the female side was coming outwards
Will check it again tomorrow since I'm gonna fit sideteps

I have manaed to replace the actuator with a new one and the door locks and unlocks now
The reason why i couldnt connect the two connectors was probably because of the stupid orange rubber washer on the female side, which i removed.
