Android 'Tesla Style' head unit - Need OEM Plugs/Wiring info |
|
I have started to install one of the android 'Tesla Style' head units. Unfortunately I have a horrible feeling its one which wont interface with the original land rover system as it doesn't involve removing the old screen and hooking up the ribbon cable to the new system.
Thats really disappointing, but i'm going to go ahead and see how it is with install anyway as the quality of the trim and unit seems decent.
There are 0 instructions with it, and the youtube videos i'm finding are all for the type which hook up to the old system.
Is there anywhere which has details of what each specific plug going into the original discovery 4 screen and cd player is for. This will really help me determine which of the 3 facra connectors are for the FM aerial, which connector is the reverse camera etc and should get me some way towards installing this unit properly .
I have a 2010 Denso system
This is the unit I brought https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003170...4c4dT4ur3m (128gb - 6gb RAM)

Thanks!
I’ve been watching powerfulls videos , I think he may have a unit which wires directly to the old system though (like the smaller screen they released a video on).

They have 2 displays.
Now they fitted the smaller one. The plan was then to fit the bigger one.
However he’s working with the supplier to get the touch screen working one the oem interface. So there will be a delay.

Yeah, I saw the CAN Bus video today, really interesting.
I think the bigger one he has might be like the others i have seen which connect to the main unit in a similar way to how the smaller screen one did. Unfortunately mine isnt like that at all and doesn't use the OEM unit .
That said overall it seem pretty good so far and it runs well, so if I can figure out the last few wiring niggles I have in terms of reverse cam and getting audio going I think I can probably live without the 4X4 and other screens. (Plugging into AUX is not working for me currently so may have to use speaker cable connections).
It also supports 360 cameras, which I also brought but I don't want to bother with that project until I have it up and running fully for a few weeks .

I think that is the same unit I have! (Just a different fascia as theirs is Discovery 3). Going through all the thread now to see what it says about hooking up audio.
Thankyou!

I have confirmed which plug is the reverse camera, I will need some kind of adapter to plug it into the yellow RCA Coax type plug on the android unit though. Not been able to find anything on my searches so far.
I will eventually be replacing the camera with one of the 4 from the 360 system I will fit, but for now am planning to just use the bult in reverse cam if I can find an adapter to convert original.
