Lard’s disco 3
A proud new owner - After a week of ownership, the immediate issues sorted I’m building up for some mods
I managed to buy a 2008 tdv6 SE from a friend in the trade who bought it to use on a euro trip - was after a HSE but this is a 100k mile SE that had been highly specced and was in great condition, with good service history and only 2 owners - it helped that it was also a lovely colour 😁
So far:
IIDTool purchased - 4x4 info/ off road nav enabled
Replaced sticking rear Caliper
Replaced noisy tensioner and aux belt
Had cam belt done before purchase and expansion bottle
Had replacement door lock mechanism
to do:
Currently on order are
rear parcel shelf
cubby fridge
I'm a sucker for preventative maintenance (maybe because I had a P38 previously ) so if there's anything obvious that's worth doing then shout and I'll add it to the list

oh - if it helps I used "breaker link" to get the cubby fridge - £95 delivered and specified a D3 model vehicle so fingers crossed it will be a good fit, could only find D4 ones on ebay - also managed to get a beige parcel shelf so again.... if they both turn out to be what I asked for then a result as the fridge comes with 3 months warranty!

gutted - parcelfarce lost both items between me and the breaker
To be fair renparts (the breaker) refunded me without any nonsense so back on the lookout for a D3 cubby fridge and a parcel shelf!
any pointers to whether the parcel shelf would have been black or beige as standard with my interior?

Nice looking motor! Vert best of luck with it
Oh and welcome to the club
Nice looking car, so you'll want to hang on to it.
Not being pessimistic but … top of your shopping list should be :
RLD spare wheel protector
Disklok or similar
as it's a D3 and not a 4, trigger the alarm.
if it sounds like a crap house alarm that's on it's last legs and several streets away you can disconnect the sounder (in the "second battery box" under bonnet on drivers side) and it will switch to using the horns instead..

Can't believe it's been a year already - have been very happy with the Disco - maintenance wise in addition to the earlier work:
New tyres - Grabbers
handbrake shoes, discs & pads all round
The other rear caliper
both EGR valves
MAP cleanout
2 x new batteries (Bosch lasted about 8 months!!)
Service (oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter)
LED bulbs (main and side lights)
Expansion bottle (low coolant warning)
Rear prop shaft bearing
Mods:
Remote FBH + SMS tracker device
Blackvue front & rear dash cam & battery pack
Centre console fridge
window deflectors
I'm averaging 29 MPG on a steady commute - have put 27K miles on it over the last year
Only issue has been limp mode (new battery sorted that) and EGR's went south
I've still got an annoyance of having to push the gearshift forward in park to get the key out, but that's not too annoying - have taken it off road a couple of times (tame green lanes - still managed to scratch it!)
The snow was good fun, managed to rescue a shogun from a field, once in normal mode, then second time I buried it trying to tow it out of 4ft snow, into low range and it pulled like it wasn't connected! Also towed an Ikea truck out of an icy road, so it's been outstanding for what I wanted it for"
Mods wise I'd like to fit a rear view camera - Awesome vehicle, still make any excuse to drive it!
Plans are to start refreshing some of the steering/suspension components on the front

Have you tried taking the gearbox linkage off the gearbox and cleaning it up or replacing it, they have a habit of rusting up.
Its a very easy repair and would hopefully repair your gear stick issue

Nice looking spot to have a picnic where is this ?
Nice looking motor too just reached first year anniversary as well. Retro fitted
Heated seats. heated screen, F&R Parking sensors, auto wipers, auto lights, full leather. front fogs, D4 heated steering wheel, airbag and switches, Brembo RRS 4 pots and discs, Dave's aftermarket sat nav install, Aftermarket head unit, Rear parking cam, Powerful UK grill replacement, De-tangoed and painted head lights.
EGR Blanked oil pump & cam belts changed
When you had the cambelts done was the Oil pump checked/changed to make sure it has the latest one fitted.?. If not I would be worried about it failing after the belt change.

So update to work done so far:
Bodsy came and flushed my gearbox, transfer case and changed oils in diffs!
I've replaced both EGR valves... then had one go again so call to Bodsy and EGR delete and software update done
Also sorted out the lights - went with LED's for the dipped beam, but got flashed by a few folks and did the sensible thing and removed them, more research and plumped up for the hids4u H7R conversion and really pleased! LED's now in the main beams and really pleased with the clean front end!
Also fitted the ebay bargain LED bar - piccies below!

Can you post a step by step for fitting the sunbeam in the grille?
