Evening,
My wife is having some major trouble with her 2016 D4 to the point where she’s too frightened to drive it.
The problem only occurs every now and again sometimes weeks apart, she will be cruising along on major roads or motorways and all of a sudden the car starts shaking and juddering, she applies the brakes and it becomes almost uncontrollable, then it just stops and may not happen again for ages. She does a lot of mileage, it’s not left unused.
It’s been in an out of our local specialist in Cornwall several times over the last few months, they have been through the brakes, drive train and fault codes etc with no joy.
Has anyone on here had a similar issue?
Thank you.

Sticking brake callipers, buy an infrared thermometer and periodically check the temperature of all callipers and disks shortly after it does it, needless to say do not touch the callipers or disks with bare hands after driving. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

All of the brakes have been stripped down, one of the sliders was sticky and we thought they had cracked it but it started again a couple of weeks later. I have an infra red thermometer, I’ll put it in the car and check when it happens again. Thank you

I would have said park brake shoes.
The linkage seizes, only answer is new shoes, and keep using the park brake to keep it all free.
But you say brakes have all been done?

Would also have said parking brake apart from the braking then making car unstable.
But certainly worth looking at. .

My d4 has done this too, twice so far. Months apart, can start suddenly on motorway at 70mph. Had to pull over. Didnt have a thermometer but felt all wheels and they were ok. I do a decent mileage so not lack of use. Will get a thermometer. d4 HSE

There was a chap on the disco 3/4 Facebook page who had this and it turned out to be the propshaft centre bearing… I don’t think that’s particularly had to change or that dear (hopefully)
I’ve suffered this as well, still need to properly look into it!

EPB park brake shoes seizing...
Happened to me on the M40 this...
Park brake shoes need rebuilding £ to a penny.
Will stop and you'll think, that's Ok and then bang... worse than before.
Get to your trusted Indy and they'll sort it.

Thank you all, I thought it would be unlikely that I’d be the only one. It’s back in the garage this week, I’ll pass the information on and see what happens. I’ll keep you posted to the outcome.
