LED light round gear knob
Can anyone tell me if a 2015 Discovery 4 SE Tech has an LED Light ring around the gear knob?
I’m not sure if there should be a green LED light. My Selector letters are red when selected but there is no other light or back light.
Thanks if anyone can let me know.

There's a warranty issue with a TSB relating to this. If you look at the post about the XXV knob not lighting up this has been discussed.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

The TSB was realeased 15th Aug 2016 - LTB00966 - Transmission Control Switch (TCS) Illumination - Green Lights Inoperative.. VIN 704668-840480. Caused by a faulty transistor in the TCS. Replace the TCS - LR090489 and reconfigure module via SDD. Time allowed 0.7hr. D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

Just been told by Carrs Land Rover that my model doesn’t have the green back light around the gear knob.
I’m going to have to do some more researching...........One life live it..........

I'd suggest that they're maybe not quite right The TSB doesn't state that it's a model dependant feature - check your VIN is in the range. It's the same part number across ALL models, (except the XXV which has a silver top). They'll be telling you next that illuminated HEVAC switches were an optional extra too
Ps. Just remember that the illumination in the TCS doesn't come on with just sidelights switched on like the other switch illumination - the ignition needs to be on too.D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

Mine's a 62 plate (a couple of years younger than the XXV) and it's got the illumination working. I'll speak to the engineer responsible in work tomorrow and let you know if there's any technical help available.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Mine is in the VIN range! think Carr’s we’re giving me a naive answer.
My panel has a ring that looks like it should illuminate like Wiggs but without the green light.
Spoken to Farnel Bury they said when I’m passing pop in so they can check, got some other issues with the drivers seat moving so they can look at it all on the next service.
Cheers guys............One life live it..........

Having checked mine last night, I couldn't see the green circular illumination around the selector either
However, found that it was because the dash lights etc were dimmed to a maximum
Turned the dimmer and the green circle became visible again
I got in touch with the engineer responsible for the rotary selector electronics and he stated that there was a tolerance issue with the green LED driver circuit and it's not easy to fix.
Knowing our electrical department, I'm not surprised, but also as an employee of Land Rover, I'm disappointed. I wish there was something I could suggest to get it fixed.
Having seen Wheeler Dealers, there's a place they used to fix the instrument pack on an Audi TT and also repaired an abs modulator, you could try them, they're called BBA Reman. I have absolutely no connection with them either.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

My facelift D4 doesn't look like it has a light ring at all...??
Plus my P, R, N etc are illuminated reddy orange, not green.
Did they perhaps stop with the light ring with the facelift?
They should have a green illumination for the letters and around the rotary part. If your's is a face lift, is it still in warranty? If it's yes, then get it replaced.
Saying that, check the background illumination on all the switches, you might have dimmed them. The tell tale moves around with the gear that you're in.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

Thanks. It’s out of warranty unfortunately and on its brightest setting therefore definitely not dimmed.
The letters are definitely not green either and as far as I can see there is no light ring regardless....
