Updates and descriptions

My IID says there are a few updates available and I was wondering if there is a description anywhere of each and what each does and why.
I am wrestling with the myriad warning lights problem which seems pretty common and I am wondering it is is due to a software problem since it is not related to anything else we can find like bad battery, alternator or corrosion.

Any ideas. I have done no updates for ten years if it helps..

BCM Module is probably worth doing but be very careful with the rest of them... "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"!! I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

+1 on if it ain’t broke. Lots of thrillers on here of temporarily bricked cars after attempts to update modules. Updates are high of the list of things I’d sooner let the dealer do.

Good question though on a list of updates and what they are intended to do, I’ll be interested to see if that exists. 2008 LR3 HSE, 4.4L V8

All software patches in every other domain have short descriptions defining the faults they fix etc. I am also very surprised that since there are so many complaints about the over-sensitivity of these cars to minor variations in voltage and current, there is not a patch to fix this
