Dog Ramp - recommendations please - decent quality

Having looked at a few past posts on the forum re dog ramps, most seem old and out of date

I'm looking for an extendable aluminium based one for our 12 year old lab. She's in good shape and can jump into our D4 when lowered but we're thinking that a ramp is the way to go from now on after recovering from a damaged shoulder caused by jumping over a stile. We do lift her out anyway

What's anyone using? The aluminium / plastic ones around £100 or so look ok - i.e. the Petsafe telescopic one or the German 'Dog Walk3' one

I imaging that even in low setting, the ramp angle will be quite steep so a non slip variety would help

What's out there? Grateful for any recommendations

Hi, I repeat my posting to another string:

<<I too used a Solvit telescopic ramp for our last Golden Retriever and stuck some carpet on it - the fitted non-slip was not very non-slip.

However, the collapsed length was too long to store in the back of either car fore and aft plus it was a bit too heavy for my Wife to deal with on her own.

Now using a two part ramp. Has a 140 kg rating but I wouldn't want to try that!
See https://www.mobilitysmart.co.uk/folding-pet-ramp.html

It is a bit steep with a Disco but is fine with the XC60 and stores fore and aft in both cars. Again, have stuck a bit of nice carpet on for comfort and traction. Latest GR is a bit overly sensitive to loud noises such as scratching claws on the "carborundum" non-slip surface.>>

Cheers

I use the Solvit Telescopic Ramp for our two Great Danes.

Fits in the back of the D4 when not in use and the dogs are happy going up and down it. No way I'm trying to lift them in and out Laughing

We too used a solvit telescopic ramp, with our Irish Wolfhound and previously with two older labs. It can be a little steep with the D4 but generally OK. The length of fits the width of the back of the book perfectly. As has been said the non slip grip needs assistance staying non slip. I used to wash ours off with a stiff broom which used to bring it back. An older dog may need a little gentle help from the rear.
What ever you choose, don't assume your dog will just use it. Spend a few days getting them used to it first by getting them to walk on it. Laying it flat on the ground with a few treats on it, then gradually raising it a little at one end and getting them to walk up it on a lead .
