Lipstick's road to recovery

My 2006 SE's road to recovery begins now.
I will post pics and descriptions upon completetion of jobs.
I call the truck Lipstick, due to no matter how much lippy you put on a pig, it's still a pig Rolling Eyes

JOB's
Re-calibrate the SAS
Sort the suspension that's flatter than a skeletons booby
Seized and completely fluffed rear brakes
Shot front brakes
Service
Underside surface rust
Heated drivers seat that doesn't quite get the heated part
Mottled headlight lenses
Dis-functional 6 disc changer.
Blowing exhaust

Thats the short list.
2006 D3 aka Lipstick (bad purchase) my daily.
2012 D4 aka Fiji (wife named it) only drive to the garage/mot station.
2003 L200 aka Miss Piggy, faded blotchy red pink, currently sat in naughty corner in disgrace due to a knocking bottom end (It was the cheapest 4x4 when i bought it)

Tonight I went for self gratitude to make feel like a god of automotive prowess, the two easiest things to replace, the polen filter and the air filter. Tomorrow the fun begins Thumbs Up

This is the passenger side. As can be seen it was all fluffed.
Took an few hours, but its done, the drivers side was even worse, way worse.

Hey hey! Look at you go.
That’s it now, you’re on your way.
Looks like you’ve got it under control. Brakes is good start, they are kind of important. Don’t forget to change the brake fluid if it looks a bit gritty and also bed in the EPB shoes.

Good luck with it Thumbs Up

I would like to invite the absolute balloon head at JLR who thought that a two piece locking wheel nut was a good idea for a midnight walk with a shovel Censored

Took a while, a drill, punch, several roll ups, two cups of strong tea, a lot of words that I doubt are acceptable here, and several sockets but I got the stupid Censored Censored thing off, is this a common occurrence with these.

And that was just the start to the drivers side 🙄 😒

Lipstick came very close to a lump hammer through the windscreen yesterday, very very very close. I'm not know for patience Censored

I have seen some things over 20 years of LR ownership, but this shocked me, nothing is staged, all totally legitimate.

I will be making a few phone calls tomorrow morning. Shame on me for missing this, it was going dark, rain and sleet. And I've only seen Lipstick in day light a handful of times due to work hours.
This took 4 hours to get apart and rebuilt.

Service when this Censored rain stops.

Trying to workout how to set up the Gap tampon thing.
Not going very well due to my lack of techy knowledge.

Thank you Moo, oh the reality....... I am truly beginning to thing I named her appropriately. I truly bought a pig. One truly destined for the breakers yard. I will get there (hopefully) I'm one stubborn Censored

Hi BR, oh yeah, there was a lot of beating, hence the big lump hammer came out, she reserved for stubborn jobs 😉

This one side truly challenged my patience, almost my skill tbh. Like I said, I've never seen anything this bad.

On an old forum LRO many have seen the Censored I've resurrected, and overcome. This thing is a whole new level.

Thank you kev, long time maybe 20 years since I've tackled shoes, and I still hate the Censored archaic things.

Have a look at the drivers side pics, I've never seen out like it.

Tbh the brake fluid is dark but debris free, definitely on the list to be changed, but not totally cabbaged. But it WILL BE changed, she's due.

Hi Stuart, the swear is held together with gaffa tape, but she's holding. The wheels do lean in at the top, so I doubt I'll be away from there for long Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
