Suspension Height Opinions |
|
Hi all.
Ive been playing with the suspension height using my Gap 11D.
5mm higher and 5mm lower. Still not sure which if any I prefer, (looking for a comfortable ride).
Your opinions would be appreciated .
Kind regards. Disco 4 XS 2010 Auto.

I run mine at 10mm lower, mainly to get my towball at the right height.
Ride is not compromised.

Middlk - What tyres do have & where are you looking for a comfortable ride - smooth motorway, town centre & speed humps, country lanes, off-road?

Perelli Scorpion Zero 255 55 19.
Mainly town these days.
Roads in Swindon are awful, full of pot holes, I don't think there is a single road without holes and bumps. Disco 4 XS 2010 Auto.

This gives me a thought… my front struts leak down 5mm overnight and then seal up, maybe I’ll just lower my ride height 6mm and reduce load on the compressor. Might be a bit nicer ride too. 2008 LR3 HSE, 4.4L V8

Changing the tyre pressures might make more of a difference! I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Hi NIGETHECAT, Are you thinking lowering tyre pressures by, say, three pounds would give a more comfortable ride? Disco 4 XS 2010 Auto.

Exactly, unless you tow on a regular basis, or run the car fully loaded all the time then I’d start by experimenting with tyre pressures before altering the ride height. Plenty of side wall if you are running the wheel and tyre combo as you say above? I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Nigethecat, I'll try that today and report back in a few days.
I used to run my Nissan Xtrail 3lb lower and that worked a treat.
Don't know why I didn't think of it for the Disco. Disco 4 XS 2010 Auto.

Lowered tyres by 3lb all round, 30 front and 33 rear.
Only done 4 trips so far but it's made a huge difference.
Not quite as good as my old 1979 XJ6 but almost. Disco 4 XS 2010 Auto.

Glad it was a successful outcome
Just remember to reinflate if towing or carrying more load! I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!
