The Swedish Air Force had landing on motorways as a backup plan during the Cold War. They had plenty of available "strips" in various locations (but I think they removed the street lampa, unlike these guys ). The SAAB Gripen could even reverse while taxiing to help utilize the system to its best.
IIRC they started up with this training again a couple of years back.

UK military aircraft regularly carry out practice landing/take off from civilian locations around the country.
there was an incident a few years back where a fast jet came into East Midlands airport, touched ground, and then immediately put its afterburners on resulting in melted runway tarmac and delays while it was repaired.
Only last week a black Puma HC2 landed at our local hospital for maybe a minute then took off again. Side doors were open and there appeared to be no passengers, just crew.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten
Our military chopper bods will do "dry runs" for specific locations, including hospitals etc. ahead of any events where people may be at risk and may require rapid evacuation to specialist medical care. That could be anything from visiting dignitaries to our own and friendly armed forces taking part in discrete operations.
Ahead of the Olympics in 2012 there were numerous recces to identify landing points for everything from Apache to Chinook in and around Central London, followed by a lot of over-flights to get the crews familiar with the challenges for each location. Said challenges included the ability to safely evade any "kinetic threats" to said helicopters from rooftops and gardens.
With hospitals, the common problem is the helipad is rated for x amount of downdraft from y aircraf, so when something a bit chunkier comes in at pace there's a real risk that the pad will fail.

the helipad for this hospital is directly next to a nature reserve, just seemed strange it was an all black Puma rather than standard NATO colours.
I was working in Basingstoke for the 2012 Olympics, on the top floor of a 5 storey block at the elevated top end of the town.
