2005 D3 G4 front parking sensors don’t work

Hi all, I have just recently purchased a 2005 G4 D3 4.4V8 with a front mounted winch. I’ve read the manual forward and backwards and can’t seem to find out how the front parking sensors work? I’ve read that they engage under 10mph (or kmh) but they won’t engage on my vehicle. How do I use them? Have they been disabled at the factory because of the factory fitted winch?

It depends on which parking sensor ECU is fitted.
As a minimum they should come on when:

1. You press the P button on the dash and its light comes on
2. After you have been in reverse, fronts should stay working while manoeuvring.

As you say on early cars, they should be on under 10 mph

I’ll have to double check whether the light stays on after reversing but I don’t think so. The rear parking sensors definitely work while in reverse though. I can’t turn on the parking sensors while in drive

Pretty sure that the front sensors have to be turned off when a winch is fitted

Normally the front sensors are disabled, even though it's only the two ïnner sensors that trigger the alarm due to the fitment of the winch.
I believe that they can be bypassed to enable the two outer sensors to work but I haven't done this on mine.

Have you use the forum search facility? I’m sure this topic has been discussed before, both by G4 owners and those fitting the oe LR winches. Thumbs Up

All G4’s have the front parking sensors disabled at the factory… as is the sunroof! These are also disabled because of the roof rack…
So do not panic.. they are not meant to work! Very Happy
