D4 HSE sdv6 MY12 Sat Nav update/upgrade

Hi All.
Got my Disco 4 on Tuesday last and noticed the Sat Nav is a bit dated and could do with an update/upgrade.
Saw a few posts mentioning SD cards and slots.
Well, I've looked on my D4 and can only find a USB and an iPod slot (although the iPod slot looks remarkably like a USB slot?).
Anyway, I am hoping there is someone out there who can give me some advice.
Many thanks
TIA

IIRC you can't get it bang up to date, it will cost a fortune AND it's still underwhelming.

Phone or proper sat-nag Thumbs Up

agree with all the above comments.

The on board Nav is out dated and just doesn't work. (It didn't when it was current!)

Apple car play or that android stuff is the way forwards Very Happy

Updated mine to 2020/21 using a USB memory stick and a download.
Cost was just under £100.
Lots of here have done it using

Still not perfect but better than original.

I agree with all the above comments.

I use Waze on my 'phone, which is excellent & available for both Android & Apple 'phones.

I have a Garmin SatNav but I find Waze better, both at home & overseas.

I have both TomTom and Waze, I prefer the live routing in Waze, it's far more likely to re-route due to delays and far more likely to re-route via minor roads.

The only issue I have with Waze is the lack of routing when there's no network service, if you need to plan a new route or re-route an existing one you're stuffed. With TomTom I can always plan a route.
