Electronic parking brake problem

Hi everyone
The disco 3 is a 2007 which the emergeny release had been pulled, i watched a video on here which involes taling the front cover off and with a screwdriver manully winding the mech back out to relatch, now with that being done when i go to pull the parking brake on the epb still tries to unwind the cables untill the motor comes off its threads.

Hi

Don’t know if you’ve seen it but this is a very good thread

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/epb-repairu...hlight=Epb

Maybe the shoes arnt adjusted, cable has come off the EPB shoes or possibly snapped cable

Have u had any codes read please and what was the underlying issue which resulted in the emergency cable being pulled

Hope that helps

My pleasure Thumbs Up

As a starting point , Have u physically checked the end of the cables where they attach to the EPB shoes plse, ensured shoes have been adjusted correctly , or maybe one of the cable have snapped

Know there are some extremely knowledgeable members here who can guide u better than myself

In the mean time I just thought if u plug it into diagnostics it may give u some indication of why the emergency release was pulled in the first place, do u get an amber or red warning light on the dashboard

Another thought is ur battery ok please , ie , with the engine off should be a min of 12.6 Vdc and relevant fuses tc have been checked

The emergency release was pulled due to the handbrake being jammed on which i think was poor adjustment on the rear shoes.

Once i manually unwound the the motor (which allowed the cables slacken off) i striped the rear brakes, made sure handbrake pivot levers are free on the shoes then rebuilt and adjusted them correctly,

Then when i go in a pull the hand brake on the motor just unwinds itself off the threaded rod in the motor, i cant get the handbrake to apply,
