Hi there, I'm running my Disco3 on 22" Khan alloys withe Pirrelli 285 35 R22 tyres. I'm looking to do a bit of offroading, nothing serious, mainly through feilds and up hills. Can any tell me where to get a tyre i can use on and off-road that will fit a 22" wheel, obviously at a good price would be better.
Cheers

I think you will be very lucky to find anything over 19 " in an offroad tyre. Maybe you should look at getting a spare set of rims and then go down to 17 " with a higher profile

Hi Tackleberry
it might be worth thinking of another set of wheels for meatier tyres as even on 19's there is very little sidewall to absorb off road abuse....also not sure of the load ratings on Kahn wheels? It is certainly surprisngly easy to destroy an 19" diameter MTR on mild terrain.
I run LR alloys so can't comment on the wheels. Hope that helps?

Ordered 5 new BFG 245/70/17 A/T's yesterday for fitment later in the week. Did a lot of research and decided that the 265's may be a bit over the top. I can get these for R1999 per tyre from TWT whereas the Bridgestone go for R2300 and BFG 265's R2400 ? (although no stock at present) per tyre.
Other than having had exceptional service from the BFG's on my Defender, I'm a bit worried about the speed rating of this tyre which is "R" and equates to 170 km/h if I am correct. I was never worried about this on the Defender, but could there be a insurance/warranty issue with the D3 ?
The BFG don't seem to do a 245/70/17 ATs they do do a 245/75/17 though so the diameter is only going to be a few mm less than the 265/70/17

Yip - that's why I went for the Coopers instead . Deon most tyre ratings are conservative - but seriously why would you need more than 170 ? . A

Thanks Slimer - now I also know that I have a bit of safety margin of 4.8 km/h built in on the actual speed and speedometer speed
Heine - do not think I will ever reach the 170 km/h mark - but have heard horror stories of insurance claims being rejected due to speed rating being lower that manufacturers specs. Load rating is much more important to me.

Tackleberry, running 22" wheels off road.....
You WILL damage the wheels & destroy your investment, (IF you can find meatier tyres)
You will be much better off finding a cheap set of 17" or 18" wheels with off road tyres from e-bay or somewhere similar.
There's various sets come up on here from time to time also.

This fella has 2 sets of 17" wheels with new tyres for sale. You'd prob be able to sell on the tyres to folks that use them for road use (esp considering they are new) and use the wheels for muds. I recently bought a set of 4 new tyres from a forum member that was putting muds on the 17"ers he bought.
