Transfer box 2 speed or 1 speed? |
|
Sorry for a stupid question - and please, no haters - but I’m looking to change the transfer box oil. And I’ve seen references to 1 speed and 2 speed, with very different capacities! How do I know which one I might have?

If your forum details are correct and you have a 2010, it will be two speed. MY14 TDV6

As far as I know, all discos have the 2 speed box, only the RRS had the option of single speed, but I might be wrong 👍

At least LR4 SCV6 MY13+ had by default a one speed box. You see this in the center console because the controls are blanked out.

That’s interesting kajtzu, it may be something that is different depending on which market the vehicle is from? I’ve never seen a UK spec car with a single speed transfer box. I know when I got my 2016 D4 I test drove a fair few (10 maybe) and they all had 2 speed boxes

UK didn’t have petrol SCV6 engines, either, so… but NAS and Middle East did.
All EU diesels had two speed to my knowledge.

All uk spec D4s had two speed AFAIK, two speed is optional now on D5s. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

On my poverty-spec (S) 2014 D4 the 2-speed transfer box was optional. I was probably the only one to ever buy an S-spec D4 in Belgium.

IIRC someone on here with a commercial D4 said they had the single speed version. .
