P065A-00 (2F) Generator system performance
So
Got this error out the blue this afternoon on my MY2011 D4 XS with the accompanying ‘charging system fault’ on the info console
IID reports battery hovering between 11.7-12.2 when engine running, but 12.5 when asleep
Clearly not what it should be doing
Has anyone gotten away with fixing this without replacing the alternator, and once you got it, how far did you get range wise before everything fell apart
Asking because I’m in Marrakech and have a 700 km drive to get home on Saturday, so very little time to sort stuff out
Many thanks

Actually, could use some help on this.
Having chatted to Bodsy, said to check fuses.
Best I can figure, the Alternator fuse is a 5A fuse at position 20 in the battery fuse box.
I can’t find anything in the CJB, and the electrical diagrams suggest fuse 20 as well, but it should be 10A.
Problem I have is I don’t have a fuse!!!
Can anyone with a similar spec please have a quick look and get back to me on this?
Photos attached.
Before this sounds too rediculous, before setting off, I had the car in at LR for a ‘diagnostic’ on a very new high pitched whine coming from auxiliary belt.
They attributed it to the viscous coupling, so off I merrily went down to Marrakech.
Somewhere on the way, I realised there was a lack of power and a new whistle, so stopped to take a look.
Vacuum hose for 2nd turbo was disconnected, but also found that the wiring over the cooling fan shroud was routed underneath it and the oil seperator crankcase breather pipes were fractured at the T-peice
Also found, first roundabout, thatthe horn didn’t work because they disconnected the damn thing behind the front grill!!!
And, the whine was coming from knackered pulley tensioner bearings.
Excuse from service manager was that they didn’t realise the vehicle would be leaving without repairs, despite me speciffically saying we needed it to travel and would be collecting it unless a solid reason not to. Service team let us take it, so believed it ready to roll. Service person promised shed speak to mechanic and feed back if there were any ‘critical’ issue; no contact.
So, would not surprise me if they pulled a fuse to remove alternator load or some such.
But would like reasurance that there should be something there !
But if there should be, why has it taken near 1000km for the fault to show, with nothing on IID? And trust me, I’ve been scanning regularly.

So,
Alternator replacement sorted this out immediately.
Codes cleared and battery charging properly.
Had a look at the old alternator and took off the cap holding the bushes; lots of carbon dust so uneducated hypothesis may be that the dust was causing a short?
Still, will give it a clean and take see if it works some time.
Can anyone give me an insight into the fuse issue though?
Scavenged a 5A fuse from the ACC socket in the CJB, my car doesn’t have it, but seems to have done absolutely nothing.
