EGR cooler removal. What is this T piece
I've removed the egr coolers from my engine, blanking the exhausts and removing the hoses.
I was going to replace the T connector with a straight through however it's not a simple T. See pics below. Part number is PEI500020.
The smaller diameter pipe is getting removed entirely. There is some sort of sprung valve inside the T. Will this serve a purpose if the EGR is completely removed?
The alternative is I just bung the smaller diameter hose and leave the T in place.

Thermostats for egr live in the egr cooler inlet/outlet.

The egr coolers themselves do have their own little thermostats.
I guess this is a 3rd that keeps the main loop entirely separate from the EGR loop.
Given that this section entirely bypasses the main thermostat housing, I think it's probably best I leave it in place.
It could also be some sort of one way valve?

Keenly interested in this job. Can you post a how to? Access to EGR Coolers, blanking plates, special tools and the hoses to remove and not remove.
This is the job all TDV6 D3s with blankable EGRs need to worry about to eliminate EGR cooler failure from the list of ageing problems.
Noticed any change with engine warm up and daily running?

Well I am cheating a little; I have the body off..
I can still put some information together when I'm done. The egr coolers themselves could stay in position. You can get to the exhaust manifold from under the vehicle, cut the flexi exhaust and blank off.
Blanking off the coolant hoses is all in the front so easy enough with the body on. I will still do a how to and try to be sympathetic to those doing this job with the body on.
(Might be a while though)

Great news - photos always helpful and a map of the coolant hoses removed even better.
Just bypassing the EGR coolers and joining the coolant lines is another option with blanked EGRs.
Thanks
