Discovery 4 rear brakes -2012 |
|
The OSR brake caliper is seized so I thought that I would replace the following:
Rear brake calipers x2
Rear brake discs x2
Rear brake carriers x2
And a new set of pads
For quality / price where would you recommend to purchase these items
Tia and remember to wear sun tan lotion over the next few days

Advanced Factors (as in the link above to Forum Sponsors)... use code "AF4LRP" and you'll get a good discount if you buy all that lot..
Excellent service and delivered very quickly (and the right parts delivered !!)
No lotion needed here... it's pisinstantly raining I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

As you’re removing the disks you might as well get new brake shoes and small parts to keep them in place. I mean unless you’ve changed them lately.

Hi Guys...
So we were told when we bought our D4 HSE 12 plate that it would probably need new pads and discs after about 3 or 4k. We'll that time has come along. Now I was planning on doing this myself but in the interest of how much it would save me I got a quote from a uniquely quiet truck specialist who has said I wouldn't get much change from 500quid and if I was to do them myself I'd need a special tool to get them off is this true?

Does the £500 include all the parts? (Including hand brake bits)
Discs and pads will set you back around £150-200 depending what you get, handbrake parts probably another £50-£100 (might be less).
You can save some money by doing it yourself obviously, you’ll need an IID or similar to make life easier when doing the handbrake shoes but I’m sure it’s been done without by someone… read Bodsys Brake Bible before you start to see if you have everything you need.
There is a LR specialist quite close to you if you want an accurate price! I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!
