Sat nav version check and update

I’d like to figure out which version my sat nav is.

1. How do I do that?
2. What’s the most recent version available?

Any help gratefully received!

On MY10 the map isn’t updatable by the user but has to be updated by a dealer. In practice it isn’t worth it.

Yes, I think the MY10 Sat Nav is updatable by a dealer (or it was) but only for a few years. So at best, and at great cost you'll have a Sat Nav that's still around a decade out of date. It is still of some use of course, but often where road layouts have altered, more and more you find yourself driving through fields.

The alternatives are to have a stand alone system, such as a Tom Tom or, probably the best choice if you have one is the facility on a smart phone, which is the method I use with my iphone. Always up to date and even if you do put it on your windscreen with a holder, it doesn't take up as much space as the likes of that Tom Tom. "Hey Siri, show me directions to.." (say postcode or whatever) and off you go.

It is annoying you can't update that facility in the vehicle, but hey ho, it is what it is.

Pedros & kajtzu are entirely correct.

I would suggest using Waze and/or Google Maps, both of which run on Android or Apple iOS.

I also find What Three Words to be of great help both when giving directions to people, or as last weekend finding your car in a vast open field car park at a country show.
