Are all transfer boxes the same?

Mine is throwing a gearbox fault when switching from low to high range, easily sorted with a bit of fiddling but its taking increasing amounts of fiddling to get it back into high range.

Loads of used TBoxes on ebay but are the 8 speed ones different to 6 speed? Most are listed as 2012-2016, mines a 59 plate 6 speed, although I thought they were all the same.....
