2.7 TDV6 timing belt cover / LR031775 / front seal

All,

Working through a car rebuild, including an engine rebuild (see https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/rusty-boot-...89350.html - need to do an update).

Looking at the plastic cover that goes over the timing belt and the seal that runs on the crank pulley has died. It has also worn a groove in the crank pulley.

Question - Has anyone found a source for the seal fitted to the plastic cover as it is £££ to buy the full plastic cover.

Planning on welding up the wear groove on the crank timing belt pulley and machining back in my lathe.

Thanks in advance,

Adrian

Would better to just replace the pulley, welding it can cause it to fail.

My opinion is I would not bother at all, its only a dust seal, but the cover is open nearly all the way round, a cheap fix would be to get some rubber tube say 3 or 4mm slice it down one side and glue it back on the cover, but to me its not going to improve anything.

With the number of blown engines reported, there should be a few second hand parts available ?

Here's a handy source for Oil seals and shaft repair kits if you have a groove that's been made by an oil seal.
During my working life as a Machine Tool Fitter involved with high precision machines and hydraulics found them to be superb and reliable.
